Super Mario Brothers made me like video games,... it showed me the fun of even a side scroller that was all about jumping mostly, and running, and since then its only gotten better overall, though there were road bumps.

I have to say I have the best memories of Super Mario Brothers 1 of course, but I must now add, the best game to me I'd play for Nintendo is Super Mario Brothers 3. The music, graphics, gameplay was better and it looked like TV cartoons, so it was a move toward advanced and bigger games I guess.

yeah, and did you know that SMB2 wasn't even a mario game at first? They just took some unpopular game from japan and added Mario characters. When they did that though, it was a hit. Did you also know that the whole game was just a dream mario was having? I think he was dreaming this because he was probably one of the only people to play the japanese version and when he heard they were scrapping the US launch he had to think of a way to save this game from the bargin bin in JAPAN!

One of my memories about Nintendo off the topic of games maybe is the controller. Remember that sharp cornered beast? They also made a rounded controller like the SNES one but that flat rectangle makes me know why you can call that controller a paddle. Also this brings up that even then I think they had the select button. But you almost NEVER EVER need the select button, its almost not even used!

They were paddles back then, but not now. I hate it when someone places an ad saying they have a GC with 2 "paddles". THEY'RE CONTROLLERS!
Sorry, just venting.

Hey this is off topic but what is the Sega Mega Drive? Also, was the Sega counterpart to the original Nintendo the Sega Master or something? Was it the same almost? Same controls, cartridges, graphics, prices?

the mega drive was just Sega's attempt at beating nintendo with their SNES, but all in all Sega have had 2 sega master systems the mega drive and the mega cd. but they haven't really attempted anything handheld, yet?!
