This is also about what makes any game great, in a way. My question is, if you have played Starcraft: Brood War and thought like I do that it is a unique and great game, that its not a fluke that it has dedicated fans in countries all over the world, playing almost 8 years after it came out, and that people still play it when it only takes a low low end computer to run it and 100s more games have come out, let me know what makes this game great to you. Try to say what the best parts are to you, in a paragraph or two.
Starcraft is a game that you can keep playing and still find new ways to play it, or for it to play you, because it is always suprising me and making me think in new ways. It most of all makes you think and makes you concentrate but also occupies you physically in terms of how many things you have to control, and the limits which are physically more realistic than some games. (You cant send everything in with a huge attack button sometimes, so you move it in small groups, you have to select every building separately and to make all of the decisions.) By making you make decisions but giving you just enough tools to make them it becomes a great game. And with other people you add in competing against what they are doing and thinking and working with what the game gives you and doesn't give you.

The main reason I like games is control! In starcraft you can control hundreds of units instead of just one. Also, I like to be able to make games and you can make maps for SC, not to mention build stuff in-game too. Then of couse there is the strategy that it takes to win. I may not be as good as most other players, but it's fun to try.
Stuff I'm looking forward to in the future may be a game where you make your own city and stuff like a Sims game but with lots more, like have it be an MMO too, and racing, and umm ... I just wish there was a BIG game that covered like EVERY genre every made!
They just came out with "Auto Assult" (racing MMO) from NC-Soft makers of Guild Wars, but "Auto Assult" isn't free like GW.
==================================== Added with edit:
I'm very much looking forward to "SC: Ghost" cause in that game you get to control many things like vultures and stuff.
btw, I have NOT once EVER won a single ladder game on "SC: BW"

I'm waiting for SC: Ghost also, but I think that would be fun but I would use it to help wait for SC 2 maybe. If SC 2 isn't coming out though, I will still be wanting to play SC. I might miss playing some other games but that will be okay because I know about them and they are not the same game as Starcraft or as good as it is. But I keep my eyes open in case something did replace Starcraft to me. After all, I tried Warcraft 3 but that was disappointing compared to Starcraft. And I look at other games out there, like the Civilization games, first person shooter games, massively multiplayer online games, alot of others. But I will keep looking and for now keep playing SC.

I'd play SC more if I was a fast thinker. Most of the time I'm too slow in that game. Ghost with give my brain a break I hope, so I can think more about action, than about what I should spend my money on.
Like I said before, I have NEVER one a single ladder game! How do you do in ladder Kevin? Hmm, thinking about ladder games just makes me wish Andy played SC: BW, cause maybe then I'd have a chance! hahaha (no offence Andy)

Well I am trying some other games but I spend a large amount of time on Starcraft. If I played mostly competitive games, especially 1v1 in ladder or leagues or just over and over, I could be really good, maybe better than most. But I like to play UMS also and I play some team games and games vs the computer, and sometimes I avoid 1v1s for awhile because I'm not great at them. But yeah sometime we could train together then maybe get good ladder rankings or make our records good. I think I will try to get a ladder ranking maybe, I have to find where the ladder isnt broken by cheating though.

I like to call them SCUMS (StarCraft Use Map Settings)
btw, do you need to go to another realm to get on a ladder that isn't broken?
