So Resident Evil 4 finally came out a little while ago. Not wanting to post any spoilers, but it diverges from the standard Resident Evil plot (even taking into account the how much Code Veronica tried to steer away from the standard RE game). RE4 just seemed to have a drastically different feel to it though.
Visually, the game was incredible, they really pushed the GameCube to the limits, and I can't wait for the next game to use this engine (hopefully another RE that's a bit more faithful).
Gameplay was great, as long as you don't expect the typical Resident Evil scheme, but having awaited this game for (how many?) years, I was expecting something more true to RE, even if they advanced the gameplay (like how they did with CV).
Overall the game was great, despite the numerous pitfalls. Most of which I attribute to expecting something else, based on previous RE games.
So what is everyones thoughts? Did you like it, did you hate it? Have you already used the discs as frisbee's? Most post on other forums seems to have a very distinct split, half loved it, half hated it, but few in between. Post your thoughts!

Personaly, I haven't played it.
Are the controlls still the same where you have to push up to go straight? Cause thats the only thing I didn't like about the older ones. I like the 360° controll on most other games. I never could controll RE enough to really get into them.

Nope, it's actually 3rd person, where the camera is over the shoulder of Leon Kennedy (the main character). It's really nice because when you pull out the gun, it pulls in tighter over his shoulder for a more accurate aim. It has all the features of a good 3rd person control as well, you can look around indepentantly of your direction. The only thing (as with all RE games), is that you can't run while shooting, you become stationary when you aim, and you move the target around, so you now have full range over where you are shooting (unlike previous RE games).
I'd suggest trying it, even if you just rent it for a few nights. It's beatable in that time, fortunately, but you won't get as much time to play with the bonuses after you beat it. The Chicaho Typewritter ROCKS! Mow down your foes with a powerful machine gun! Oh yeah, nothing greater!
