I don't like remakes, generally. But I'm not here to rant. Or Am I..?? Anyways, I don't see the point of these remakes lately, of good old films, into new ones. They might be nice remakes but what ever happened to new material? What about originality? What about the unexplored? What about classics, also? I see grounds for a remake only if.. 1) There is a total flop/unreleased that no one knows about to this day, they never had even a chance to see it. If we have seen the movie or seen it on TV already, DONT REMAKE IT PLEASE! 2) Different language is used. (I don't mean "yo", "eh", "****", I mean English from another for instance.) Let me know if you disagree on the reasons or want to add to this list in some way. Also, think about this: Some movies are classics, one of a kind creations. A movie would not stay in your mind if there was something just like it that'd you've already seen would it? Now maybe you haven't seen the old one, but don't tear down the past just to pin it up now! I mean if they were selling remakes of Mona Lisa for the same cost that Mona Lisa is, you'd be pissed off! That is what movie theatres vs. buying the original is like, also you get to avoid all of this changing the original intent stuff, and support making new and different material! OK this rant draws to a close. I hope my bitter anger against the remake frenzy made itself known.

indeed what was the point of re-making King Kong it made enough money the first and second time they released it!I think all the film making industry is after is making us working people to spend all our hard earnt cash on a film that is nearly or exactly like is predaccessor! its all just a big con fair enough the graphics might be better but all the content is the same!

That's why I gave "Tales From The Neverending Story" such a bad review. they went SO far away from the original, that you couldn't tell it was a remake except from the character's names.
When I got the movie, I actualy thought they were just continuing the story because it's NEVERENDING!, but I was very dissapointed.

Every now and then I see something coming around that is looking special. The first Matrix. I loved that movie. Lord of the Rings. The first Jurassic Park. Shawshank Redemption was nice. Office Space. You could list alot of good movies, it'd take pages. And there are alot of filler movies out there too. All of the time, and some of them have the same concept as something good, the same face as something good, but I call them filler! THESE RIP OFF MOVIES! GET OFF YOUR REAR, MOVIE MAKERS! MAKE SOMETHING BETTER THAN A COPY! Geez. Sorry bout the caps.

Many sequels in all areas have been successful. This has led to some take offs that are not the same quality as the original in hopes to cash in on the first one again. But sequels are a good idea generally. However, movie to movie remakes are not as successful usually, and even if people go see them, I won't. I'll go see a sequel though, especially if they can 1) keep the actors or try to imitate them 2) follow the plot line closely 3) not rip off the first movie TOO much...

You didn't know Kill Bill was a remake? The original one even had a similar cover, but it had a guy on it instead. Anyways, one of my favorite shows (SG1), is continued from the movie "Stargate". They had different actors, but I feel they did a good job. Daniel was so close that I almost thought it was the same guy; and I think Richard Dean Anderson did a much better O'Neil than Kurt Russel.
