Because this site is mainly for video games, I thought I should start getting our members into using xfire

xfire is an IMer that allows you to see what PC games your friends are playing, and even join them in some cases. Below are some of it's features.

• In game chat (even if you aren't playing the same game as your friends)
  
• Voice chat (even group Voice chat)
  
• Auto-join game servers (for those games that run on servers)
  
• FREE game demo downloads of up coming games. (with built-in download search and list)
  
• Video capture to record your game play. (NEW! BETA!)
  
• Screenshot and Video sharing (uploads screenshots and Videos to xfire.com to be placed in your profile to share with friends)
  
• See what games your friends are playing and how long!
  
• Keep track of your total hours on all your games.
  
• WOW character tracking so your friends can see your characters stats and add any of your new characters they don't know about yet!
  
• See your friend's friends that are currently playing a game and what game they are playing and any available server info.
  
• NEW! Some PS3 games are beginning to put xfire into their games so you can chat on them with your xfire pals and track your play times.
  

I have added my xfire info to my sig, and it would be so kool if more of us did the same. That way we can all get together and play games! w00t!

I know that not everyone is a PC gamer, but even if you aren't, it'd still be nice for all of us to chat on an IMer, right?

I am on xfire now and I have used it to talk to DJAikou. And it works well in Starcraft except in the Battle.net chat channels before the game, but actually in the game, it is fine. So you should have it when playing Starcraft to get alerts about people being on, where they are or chatting with them. If you play Starcraft: Brood War please post here if you want to play and maybe use Xfire to talk about games and see when the other is online. It works across diff screen names for Brood War, because you have the same Xfire screenname whatever account the game is logged into, so you can always contact them when you leave Xfire on.

I have a problem with D2 not starting up when I use xfire, but running it in window mode works around that. It seems to JUST be MY problem cause Andy plays D2 all the time while running xfire and he never has a problem. I should contact xfire support about this. Other than that it's been working great! I mostly use xfire on these games in order of play time... 1. Starcraft: BW, 2. Guild Wars: P/F, 3. D2: LOD

Sounds fun, but I don't really have PC games.

I'd love it if they did that for stuff like PS3 and the NRev

Well I know those systems will have messaging, but I don't know if they will say what games people are playing. I hope they do though.
