I don't have to work on the 17th when the PS3 comes out, so after work on the 16th, I am staying the night at Wal*Mart and hope to get my PS3 on day one. (and I hope I don't get beaten up cause someone wants my ticket.)
The Wii comes out on the 19th, but they are getting more of those so I just need to be there one hour before they (we) open to get mine.
I should bring a chair and something to snack on. I might be able to go inside and wait since I work there, so I don't have to worry about restrooms. Also, I can use the soda machine in the back room too.
So is anyone else here ganna camp out to get the next gen consoles? Tell me about your plans and then tell me how it turns out too!!!

You are certainly dedicated. I remember how we would run to EB to try to get in on new stuff, we rushed there to find they had Jungle first edition Pokemon cards I think it was, and it was fun being there in the early days of it all. And then Fossil set, we opened those and looked at the new pictures and new cards to use in decks and trade. And of course there are video games we would want to get ASAP, I wanted to get FIFA 2005 as soon as I could, I know there are many good games you got quickly.
Systems of course open up a ton of possibilities, especially these newest generation ones. But also we have to avoid getting carried away in it all, getting too wrapped up in wanting to play it as soon and as much as possible and in buying as much for it as you can. So there is that balance where video games are healthy and good for you, and as long as you think carefully you will be in right place in the balance.
The new systems will be a lot of fun and I hope everyone has a good time and doesn't get carried away, like with what you said about fighting or stealing for instance.

I hear each store is only getting 10 PS3s. This 1st batch includes a movie on Blueray disc. I hope I get one.

When I got to work at 2:30pm thursday, there was already way too many people. I got off work and forgot a chair, so I went home to get one. I had fun chatting with people in line, BUT I did NOT get a PS3. (T_T)
There were only 6 units that came in and a few people got rain checks. I didn't get anything though.
I will let ya know how the Wii camp out goes!

Sorry I'm late with the camp report, but I did get much sleep the last few nights. I stayed up all night in the freezing cold to get a Wii. I was 8th in line out of about 35 (guestimate due to not wanting to get out of line to count everyone). I got one!!! After I post here, I'm going to play it!!!
99.999% of PS3 buyers only bought them to sell on e-bay 99.999% of Wii buyers bought them to play!!! So you can tell what system is more coveted than money!
Well like I said, it was freezing! I had fun talking to people in line though. Someone in line was playing the PSP version of Tekken. The load time is rather low and the graphics are awesome. But this isn't a review post. ROTFLOL It did, however, make me wanna buy the game.
There were about 20 Wiis and everyone else was SOL. One person behind me sold their Wii ticket for $40
Well, enough typing! I'm ganna go play Wii!!!

Thank you for the report. You made a very interesting observation about how the PS3 was purchased more often for profit, the Wii for fun. That partly reflects the limited number and price of the PS3 but also in large part shows that Wii is synonymous with fun and that the people who bought the Wii were going to play it because they are sure about how great it is to play Wii games and use the Wii's features. Yet PS3 buyers would rather pay more on eBay like it was some status symbol that you would pay a fortune for like a BMW or something, but actually playing it when you go to all that trouble for it? Naw, its not THAT fun or anything. I may be wrong here but it seems true.

I'm ganna wait on getting a PS3 for a while now. I bought an X360 and it sucks! I mean the system is good, but even though it has been out for a year and it can play XBox games, I STILL don't see hardly any games I want for it! The PS3 can't even play the old games yet, and I don't see many good PS3 games (besides Dark Kingdom), so I'm ganna wait on it.
The Wii has it's problems too. They need to give it a calibration so the cursor points where your wiimote is pointing! All in all, I like both the Wii and the X360, and I can't wait to try out the PS3.

I can't wait to try the PS3. I have not tried it myself so I can't really say if its good or not. And also I need to try more games for the Wii and Xbox 360. There is a definite complaint I hear about the number of good games the Xbox 360 has, its been fairly limited and they need more big titles soon, or they will be totally overrun by Wii and PS3 and they won't be able to recover probably. If Xbox 360 doesn't get some GREAT games in the next few months how will it compete with the beasts that the Nintendo Wii and the Sony Playstation 3 are? This is the start of a new time in video gaming and the Wii and PS3 seem to be the leaders in this time so far.

I'm taking this thread off of global post, but I'm keeping it open for anyone to post their camp out stories.
P.S. I have something to say about the X360, but I'm ganna save it for a new thread.
