At E3 2005 Sony unveiled the PS3. At E3 2006 Sony announced the Price and Release Date. =========================== The PS3 came out November 17th 2006 in the US. and... March 23rd it will come out in the UK. Package deals: 1. 20GB HDD (missing a few things) for $499 2. 60GB HDD with HDMI output, Wi-fi compatibillity, and MS/SD/CF memory slots. (best deal) for $599 Here are some Controller pics... I know the controllers LOOK the same, but they have a new "Tilt" feature that they hope will help them out some against the Wii. The Wii's controller however has FULL motion sensors, and the PS3's is only "tilt". The PS3 controller doesn't have a rumble feature, they were sued by some company that now has rumble copywritten; Sony didn't want to pay the settlement fees like Nintendo and Microsoft did. Wii's controller however still has a rumble feature. The PS3 looks like they will do good, but I wish they would have gone with a more Wii-like controller. =========================== I'll post system info here when I get it. But here is what I know now. The PS3 will use many different means of controlls... -Wi-Fi w/ PSP -BlueTooth w/ wireless controllers (up to 7) -USB w/ wired controllers How much space will the Blu-Ray discs have?TDK announced they will have a 4 layer 100GB disc. And it will the be doubled the speed of the 50GB. ==New Info== There will be an add-on DVR you can buy for the PS3. When you are on vacation, you can record show. The koolest part however is you can use the PSP away from home to access your PS3 using a Wi-Fi hotspot. You may then watch your shows on your PSP while on vacation. =========== More info will be posted later. If anyone would like to do this, feel free.

Official release date has been announced!
November 2006
The reason they moved it back since Donny's post is because they need to make sure all the PS3 games are on the new BDs. These BDs are supposed to be unpiratedable (if that's a word). In other words, there is no way to copy them at all. (for now) BD players are very expensive, and the PS3 will be the cheapest BD player in the WORLD! I think sony is getting a head start into the future of technology.
I still like the NRev better, but the PS3 is in 2nd place with me.
NRev: =========================== PS3: ======================== X360: =====
PS3 has jumped higher on my scale in the past few months. I think I'll wait untill Winter '06-'07 to see which system I like better. Like I always say... "If they just teamed up, they could make the perfect system."

I don't know, but I'd think that they'd try and stay about $50 New and $20 for the hits. At least I hope they stay that price. I wouldn't want to have to buy $60 games. (However, Pokémon Stadium for N64 was $60 when it first came out.)

Look at that list of supported discs for this system. CD, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, SACD, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, BD-ROM. I didnt know you needed to have a certificate or more to use a PS3. ! But I guess I know what those things are, its just that the backwards compatibility keeps going because of laser technology being able to read any disc and the discs just keep getting coded denser and the layers of the disc use space more and more carefully as they get better at making discs. This system is going to be a good deal at that price. That seems like what the N64 was when you could get it earlier than usual. Also though, it seems like it could be one of the first systems that no one knows exactly what you could do with it yet, maybe theyll never know. I mean, 7 Synergistic processing units... and then you have HD and also there is all of that space at 100 GB.
There were games that were the best ever at NES level in some ways, when games looked like a gray block and you had to keep ejecting and injecting the game trying to get it to start. What I mean is that they need to look at what kind of game they make too, or it will be too familiar or too distant or too complex or too simple. But with that much power in the system they could do something really excellent.
