Bringing up the interesting issue of first release and errors and bugs. There will be problems with a system if you get it when its first released more than later probably, but they should fix it for you. With a new kind of system, the PS3 is going to have problems I think, they can't make all of this new stuff work just perfectly. Still, would you rather wait and not have as many issues or possibly face issues and get it sooner? You would have to miss out on the first wave of excitement and catch up on games and stuff later, but on the other hand you'd have less problems.. hmm and the price might come down a bit or more package deals might be happening. I'd like to get in on one of the new consoles early, probably the Wii though PS3 looks great, but for me its more thinking about money and stuff.. I'd buy it even if it had some errors probably.

I bought my PS2 right when they came out and it has worked fine all these years. A lot of people had trouble with theirs though. My GameCube got fried and I had to trade it in for a new one. Nintendo is a good company, but I think it is also in how you take care of a system too. My GC got fried because I used a 3rd party memory card on it, so I don't get 3rd party stuff anymore.
I'm a very impayshent* person. I know I should wait, but I might get PS3 on day one. (and Wii)
*(I know I spelled "impayshent" wrong. Teachers say "sound it out", but look where that gets you!!!)

Ah yeah, sounding out words.. that works in ways and doesn't work in other ways. The Wii and the PS3 are coming out so close together, like PS3 first in the U.S. then the Wii 2 days later. And I know there will be a limited number of the PS3 coming out. I think because of the demand and limited number, the price isn't coming down for a long while. There could be a surpise price drop next year though depending on how sales and everything go. Eventually there might be combo deals somewhere or sales of PS3's that people don't want on eBay or something, but it makes sense to get one early if you can afford it early. Maybe a similiar situation with the Wii. I'm sure they will be able to restock it and everything but it will take what maybe 6 weeks each time or something? I dunno for sure but, it will be weeks each time they restock probably.

Microsoft is trying to keep up with Sony by offering an HD-DVD drive so you can watch HD-DVD movies. The drive will cost $200 and that brings the price of an X360 up to $600! So both the PS3 and the X360 will cost about the same if you want Hi Def movies. I'm ganna stick with Bluray instead of HD-DVDs so that it won't cost me any extra.
Yeah weeks I'd say. At Wal*Mart we get TMX (Tickle Me Elmo 10) about once a week and they sell out within an HOUR!!! So most of the time we are all out. When the new next-gen systems come out I can ask Tim when they come in and make sure I'm there when they open up! Well, we have the release dates, but I mean if I didn't know, I could ask him.

If they do this does it mean it will cost more money to buy the PS3?

If they do this does it mean it will cost more money to buy the PS3? Do what? The PS3 always had the abillity to play Hi-Def movies. It's Microsoft that is adding the HD-DVD drive. So the X360 will cost $200 more with the add-on. The PS3 will stay the same cause they already had it. There are two types of Hi-Def DVDs though. 1. HD-DVD (for the X360) and 2. BDs (a.k.a. Bluray Discs for the PS3) These two are competing to take over where DVDs left off. Soon normal DVDs will become obsolete. I don't know how much room an HD-DVD holds, but I heard that a BD can hold anywhere from 25 GB to 50 GB. So I guess we'll see who comes out on top!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HD_DVD#Specifications information about the HD-DVD. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu_ray information about the blu-ray. From the blu-ray info, it seems blu-ray discs have been developed up to 200 GB already and who knows, since a layer can possibly go to 200 GB, maybe the discs can go to 400 GB or more. Seems like blu-rays are better but both are great.

Techy people will probably go with BDs and non-techy people will go with HD-DVDs just because the name of the disc says what it does. Some people just don't reshearch these things. BTW, thanks kevin!

Yeah, I get out of the loop on these things, and by the time I know what is going on I'm worried about something everyone else have moved on from. I'm still a little bothered by DVD-R and DVD+R or whatever it was with the + and -. But luckily these consoles will stick to their disc type. And maybe Blu Ray Discs and HD-DVD Discs will be cross-compatible some how?
